Here we are again with this.

Back in February I wrote a post about five random ways to simplify life. In the interest of honesty, I forgot I wrote that. If you missed it, it’s a good one. You can pick up any one of those suggestions in a jiffy and be on your way to some simple improvements.

I have another random suggestion to share today that I am embracing and why, and maybe it will be helpful to you, too.

I’m closing up my Instagram account for Small House Great Love.

This is probably the worst idea according to experts who promote all kinds of social media action and activity. And I get it. I was all about trying to keep up with all the things I “should” be doing to find success with my very little home on (in?) the web. As I launched my mini-business, Bag of Tricks, I felt the pull to start yet another IG account, but was totally dragging my feet on that. For the last few weeks I have been feeling more than a little overwhelmed, so I absolutely did not want to add another thing to my plate.

As I have been noodling on this, praying for answers, and preparing for a worldwide church General Conference this past weekend, the answer came to me – Combine all the accounts into one.

I love inspiration. I love receiving answers as my head and heart are tuned to God. I’m not always the best at listening or following through with what comes to me, but I am a work in progress, and I’m getting better. This was so obviously an answer to what has been weighing on me lately, I just had to act and share it with you. I also love how personal this answer is and that God knows me and my concerns.

Which brings us to this – Even people who are pretty good at keeping life simple, things get overlooked. I was so busy plowing through all the recommendations that I missed the “be true to me” boat. This is just one step I am taking to simplify and corral all that I’ve got going on.

I don’t have any other plans to simplify yet, but I’m okay with that at the moment. Taking one step is super empowering, and I’m going to keep myself open for more answers.

So, as of today, all Small House Great Love posts will be on @dtmurphy. Please find me there and follow to get post updates twice a week, a weekly quote that could be just what you are looking for, Bag of Tricks news, and some creative hand lettering projects.

A crazy mix? Yeah, maybe. But they are all me, so I’m cool with that.

I hope you can see a message for you in my experience. Is there something in your world that is getting the better of you? Is there a way to bring even a little simplification to it? Is there an opportunity for you to let something go that you’ve been told is a good idea but doesn’t work for you? I absolutely invite you to explore with your head and your heart what that might look like.

Thanks for being here.
